National Lifeguard training is the recognized standard for lifeguard certification across Canada. Developed by the Lifesaving Society, it prepares candidates with the skills, knowledge, and judgment needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The training goes beyond strong swimming ability, focusing on critical areas like risk assessment, emergency response, teamwork, and public relations. It is designed to meet the demands of real-world aquatic environments including pools, waterparks, waterfronts, and surf situations.
When National Lifeguards are present and supervising a location, the added layer of protection provided is an important drowning prevention technique. Every year there are over 400 fatal drownings in Canada, but under 1% of those cases occur in locations with lifeguard supervision.
Each service agreement is built around the specific needs of the project in question.
